HB-1143/I-1639 Firearms Safety (No Live Fire)

This class has been developed to meet the training requirements set forth in Washington state HB 1143 & I-1639, for all persons desiring to purchase or transfer a firearm in Washington state. A certificate of training will be provided upon course completion.

Please note that this training is also included in our Entry Level Handgun and Ladies Entry Level Handgun class curriculum.

What You Will Learn/ Topics Covered:

  • Basic firearms safety rules.
  • Firearms and children - including secure gun storage and talking to children about gun safety.
  • Firearms and suicide prevention.
  • Secure gun storage to prevent unauthorized access and use.
  • Safe handling of firearms.
  • State and federal firearms laws - including prohibited firearms transfers and locations where firearms are prohibited.
  • State laws pertaining to the use of deadly force for self defense.
  • Techniques for avoiding a criminal attack and how to manage a violent confrontation - including conflict resolution.

Defensive Combatives with Raider Tactical

This is a physical course developed for people wanting to learn tactics to improve personal safety in an increasingly dangerous world. Level 1 is developed for the person at any skill level and develops the basic fundamentals of Self Defense tactics and strategies.

This workshop, developed by Raider Tactical (RT), is taught by Gary Drake and Julia Valencia who are both USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame Inductees. More importantly Gary and Julia (and the RT team) each hold 20 plus years law enforcement experience, work as celebrity/executive protection agents, MMA competitors, trained in many different Martial Arts styles with many instructors and have had to use many of these techniques in real world situations. Julia and Gary teach internationally, for many local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, Fortune 200 Executive Protection Teams, military and citizen defenders.

The course will teach skills and tactics used by military teams, Law Enforcement and Tier1 protection teams. You will learn to use these skills to increase your safety and confidence by recognizing potentially unsafe situations. This course will teach concepts and principles of Defensive Combatives in a simple and effective way. The principles are developed to dissuade, disable, and to escape an attacker. The course will also provide= drills to practice and assist in remembering the tactics well after the course is completed.

Pepper Spray Seminar w Raider Tactical

This personal safety course is designed by Raider Tactical with your comprehensive safety in mind.  While there are many personal defense tools, pepper spray is one of the most used less than lethal weapons.  One strategy for self defense is to maintain distance.  Pepper spray tactics easily employ that strategy, allowing a person to deescalate a potential violent encounter.  

You will learn what the defense spray is made of and how it works.  You will be provided simple skills and tactics to safely deploy, defend and retain your pepper spray.  Further, this training addresses the legalities of using force which can enhance your decision making about when and how to deploy this personal defense tool.

Raider Tactical Instructors deliver training that lends to your ability to empower yourself with increased knowledge of personal safety.  Ask yourself, “Do I want to just feel safe, or do I actually want to BE safe?”

We will be using inert sprays only during the duration of the course.

Course Prerequisite:

  • Must be a US Citizen or Immigrant Green Card holder.

Utah/Multi-State Concealed Carry

This 3–4-hour non-shooting class fulfills the training requirement in order to obtain your Utah non-resident Concealed Firearm Permit. A great option for those who like to travel, a Utah Concealed Firearm Permit combined with a Washington Concealed Pistol License will allow you to legally carry, to protect yourself and your family, in more than 30 states across the country.

Course Prerequisite:

  • Must be a US Citizen or Immigrant Green Card holder.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must speak and understand fluent English.

What is Included in the Cost:

  • Training course mandated by the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification.
  • Application stamped by an approved instructor upon completion.
  • Fingerprint card.
  • Photo for your Utah concealed carry permit.
  • Photocopy of your driver's license and your resident concealed pistol license.

What to Bring to Class:

  • Valid state ID/driver’s license and resident concealed carry permit.
    • You have one year, after taking the class, to obtain your CPL from your home state and submit your application for Utah's CPL - if you don't already have yours.
  • Application fee of $87 - payable by check/money order - made out to "Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification". Credit cards are also accepted (this fee is NOT included in the class registration fee).

This class is pertinent to anyone that could find themselves potentially responding to or involved in an accident or traumatic incident, also known as a Civilian Immediate Responder. YOU ARE THE HELP, UNTIL HELP ARRIVES!

The BCON course teaches the Civilian Immediate Responder to administer lifesaving treatment to themselves or a fellow citizen that has sustained a life-threatening injury. The course covers the three preventable causes of combat death and the treatment for all three. The training provided by Combat First Aid-Foreman Consulting is developed from Tactical Combat Causality Care (TCCC) – military medical curriculum. This Course has been adapted using evidence-based medicine and treatment and is relevant to non-medical Civilian Immediate Responders. We know this topic can be in intimidating and we pray you never have to use it! Our instructors use a training method that is easy to follow and retain. The learning environment is fun and interactive. The skills you will learn in the BCON course will serve you well in an accident or traumatic incident but will also serve you and your loved ones well in all areas of life as you travel, recreate, work around your home and enjoy life knowing you are prepared!

In this two-hour, non-shooting seminar students will learn key concepts related to legally carrying a concealed handgun in public. This seminar is relevant to both male and female concealed carriers.

  • Washington State laws and how they apply to personal protection and concealed carry.
  • Different gear and carry options.
  • Mindset, situational awareness, OODA Loop.
  • How to interact with law enforcement officers while carrying.
  • Best practice approach to dealing with uncomfortable circumstances, like using public restrooms while carrying a concealed firearm

Home Defense Seminar (No Live Fire)

There is a lot more to defending your home than just having a firearm around. We will teach you how to secure your home, defend your family, and navigate the aftermath in this 3-4 hour lecture and scenario-based course. Free for Domestic Violence Survivors with an active order of protection. 

There is no live fire in this course.

What You Will Learn:

  • Washington State laws and how they apply to defense in the home
  • How to better secure your home and family from potential break-ins and home invasions
  • How to designate and outfit a safe room in your home
  • Use of cover and concealment, as well as movement and how to use it
  • Basic principles of maneuvering within a structure.
  • Clearing rooms, hallways, and other common interior geometry
  • Navigating the aftermath of a defensive situation

Course Prerequisite:

  • Must be a US Citizen, Immigrant Green Card holder, or possess a valid Washington State ID.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and legally able to possess a firearm or, at least 13 years of age with a parent/ guardian in attendance.
  • Must speak and understand fluent English.
