Level 100 - The pump shotgun is extremely versatile. With a selection of ammunition for different objectives, it can be a great choice for your primary home defense firearm. In this class you will learn how to safely deploy a pump shotgun. This class will cover shotgun fundamentals, patterning, ammo selection, malfunction clearing, carry methods, maintenance and cleaning.
Course Prerequisite:
- Must be a US Citizen or Immigrant Green Card holder.
- Must be 21 years of age or older and legally able to possess a firearm.
- Must speak and understand fluent English.
What You Will Learn/ Topics Covered:
- Basic firearms safety rules.
- Assembly/ disassembly, maintenance, and cleaning of a pump-action shotgun.
- Distinct types of reloads.
- Purchasing the right ammunition for your firearm.
- Ballistics.
- Shooting positions & stance.
- Tactical deployment/body mechanics.
- Loading/unloading.
- Nomenclature.
- Patterning.
- Weapon set-up and gear selection.
Equipment Requirements/ What to Bring to Class:
- Valid ID and/or Immigrant Green Card (if applicable).
- Quality, pump-action shotgun in good working condition (Participant must provide their own. No rentals provided. No sharing.).
- 25 rounds 00 buckshot, 5 rounds slug.
- Shotgun shell pouch/caddy/side-saddle.
- Eye and ear protection.
- Cleaning/repair kit and lubrication (recommended for general use/need).
